What does end of support mean?

When Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 reaches end of support on the 10th of October 2023, your server will still function, but Microsoft will no longer provide the following:

  • Technical support for any issues
  • Software updates
  • Security updates of fixes

While you could continue to use your server, without continued software and security updates, it will be at greater risk of virus and malware infection. This is particularly risky in a network business environment for machines running Windows Server 2012 & Windows Server R2.

Upgrading to Windows Server 2022 for servers and virtual machines is highly recommended to eliminate as many risks as possible.
